How do you even compete with Villa’s and Zapata’s mustaches let alone their fucking drip?

My favorite picture of Villa is this one with Zapata because I find it really funny.

The story goes that Villa arrived at Mexico City with just small military hat, while Zapata had his usual hat. And when this photo was taken, he was looking directly at Zapata’s hat with a little bit of jealousy lmao.

It’s also wild, because Villa was this almost cartoonish Robin Hood, bandido turned general turned revolutionary leader gunslinger type macho and Zapata was portrayed as this uncivilized peasant. Yet somehow Villa rocks up as plain as it gets while Zapata dresses like a damn peacock. Just check his pants and jacket in higher res pics, man’s drip was insane…and then the gigantic (comically large you might say) sombrero to top it off lmao

Extremely strong energy from this pic.

Side point, but does anyone know of a good history (preferably Marxist-oriented), of the Mexican revolution?

Fairly obvious recommendation, but I’m currently going through the Revolutions Pod (by Mike Duncan) season on the Mexican revolution (season 9). It isn’t Marxist, but it is pretty damn comprehensive from what I can tell and a great, easy series to listen to.

I’d be hella keen on a Marxist history of this too if anyone has one, because it is quite unlike any other revolution I’ve studied so far.
