Yeah, I blew her the fuck up. I didn’t think she was a companion until I looted her and she had underwear and a backpack. Strangely only companions wear underwear in BG3. I don’t know what’s up with that.

So I agree mostly, but classic Trek also had plenty of looking at the present and past showing how bad things were/are/can be. It’s a hopeful message in that we can change and solve problems, but it doesn’t totally ignore issues either.

I do agree the drama and action is a negative for it though. Some amount of its fine, but ST is about considering our reality through the lense of sci-fi and aliens, not just brainless entertainment. Star Wars already exists in that market. ST needs to do what it does well and not worry about trying to be as big as Star Wars. Endless growth is only going to kill the franchise.

The problem is if you aren’t exploitative then you aren’t being as “efficient” (in a capitalist sense) so you’ll be out-competed. The system is designed to incentivize exploitation. It’s mis-aligned to do anything else.

Yeah, that’s very different. This is banning phones in the classroom, because they’re a distraction. It’s like banning phones in the movie theater. There are plenty of good places to have reasonable bans.

They both do things that are more user-friendly than the other. The fact you think it isn’t user-friendly is really showing who doesn’t understand the term. I listed a few things Linux handles better than Windows, and there are many more. Windows fails at many steps, but people accept they understand Windows and deal with it. Windows also doesn’t have any options for customization, so it’s the same bad for everyone, which does help people solve issues, though they maybe shouldn’t have had them in the first place.

With Firefox mobile now supporting plug-ins, it’s easily the best mobile browser. I think it’s the best desktop browser as well, but that’s more debatable.

Is Blackberry still around? Could include that if they haven’t switched to Android.

It depends on what you mean. For me, it’s pretty user friendly, but I’m also fairly comfortable using a terminal and am very technologically literate. The fact it handles tedious tasks automatically (or can be made to trivially) is so much nicer than Windows. You can easily update all applications and your system in a matter of seconds. Compared to Windows where the application itself has to check for updates when it launches, sends you to download the installer, you have to run that and close the previous version, relaunch, and then you’re finally updated for that single application. Let’s not talk about system updates. Linux is more friendly. It requires a certain level of competence that Windows doesn’t, but if you’re above that level it’s generally better.

Sure, things can go wrong with DEs and other stuff, but it’s often easier than when things go wrong in Windows. Have you ever had the desktop or Explorer crash in Windows? It’s a bad time. Windows is not user friendly. People are just used to it.

That was a hypothetical and you missed the point, on purpose or otherwise. The point they were making is, would they make an issue out of it even if it clearly didn’t have an effect?

Why not if you’ve got thermal space to use? Overclocking will help with single-core applications where it would struggle more otherwise. It’s also just a general boost to performance for free.

Probably not. Even if they could move some credit, that’s all digital and can be removed. Like if you get scammed and report it to your bank, they can cancel that payment.

It’s not as cut and dry as you seem to think. If it is cut and dry, I’d say it’s to the opposite of your opinion, but I don’t think it is.

As someone on Linux, and who thinks performance is generally slightly better on my machine after switching, I totally agree. This post has been old for a while now. Get some more data and then post that new thing or stop posting it.

I don’t totally disagree, but I don’t agree either. Saying there isn’t a semantic argument to be had is terribly ignorant. If you own a car and I take it, sure that’s theft. If you own a car and I take a picture of it, that isn’t theft. I created something new that didn’t effect the thing you own.

In the same way, creating a copy of bits of data does not effect the original item someone owns. It does not remove anything from them. If you’re not taking anything from them, how can it be theft? Theft requires something to be taken.

They’re small, can’t grow bears (usually). They’re also generally somewhat playful and shy. They generally fear things they don’t know, which can be seen by the fact they don’t travel far beyond their homes. They are pretty care-free and not bothered by external event, and fairly joyful. They live relatively simple lives and generally seem to be easily amused.

They don’t behave exactly like children, but they do have qualities we associate with children. That, plus their physical characteristics, I’d say childlike is a decent description, particularly if you’re just trying to insult someone for hanging around them.

The Linux thing, I doubt you’ll get toxic comments. You’ll probably get comments asking why to try to help, though that can always come off as demeaning. If you say Linux is bad, that’s different. You’ll likely get a lot of comments explaining why that isn’t true and that it’s a pretty ignorant take.

For the other comments, “piracy is theft” is, again, an objective statement, not a value judgement. Saying that is to say people who disagree are wrong. Same with the YouTube one. Change “good” to “useful” would probably be better way to say it.

There’s a difference between comments that judge other people (which will likely get a strong response) and comments that judge the subject. It’s something people frequently fail with. Even if it’s worded well, people will often take judging something they agree with as an attack on their character, which is also not useful. Humans aren’t logical beings.

It’s not a thing. The OP is giving an example of how their media misleads them and uses fear-mongering about differences in people to keep them in line.
