Yeah, this is a hurdle, but that’s all. Every law ever made can be unmade.
I assume I get ID for a person born in '78 if I choose the adult body? I was born, but very young.
Hard drives of data compatible with old computers, and a few modern laptops for good measure. Maybe some electronics equipment too in case I really need to interface with something obsolete or proprietary. Some period-appropriate cash to live on before my first “job”. The 2000’s won’t know what hit them.
I’m not going to be able to take over the world (shit, even taking over Afghanistan proved to be too hard), but I sure as hell can be a shadowy hacker figure that steers the course of history. I’ll probably avert 9/11 assuming I can get up and running fast enough, and try to steer China towards reform and detente with the West. Russia’s probably intractable. I wonder if I could tip the Florida election towards Gore, in order to get global warming taken care of faster. Giving a bump to renewables research could also help things along.
Edit: So, there would be a lot of phases to this, as I gradually shift from being anonymous to a hot item. Once I reach some point at or after present day, I’ll publish my archives so the world can decide for itself, and I’ll leave proof early on that it’s genuine, for example as hashes of data in things like newspapers that are well archived. Then I’ll dismantle my cabal and retire.
Yeah. It’s slightly messy, but it’s ergonomic enough. I’m not sure why you’d choose to install it not in a corner, though; I guess they liked the way it looks but never actually do the dishes themselves?
That does tend to happen. Even without swiveling the faucet, moving dishes between basins causes a bit of a puddle to develop. Thankfully I have a tiled floor so it doesn’t matter too much.
I have this one. It’s not that bad actually, once you get used to it.
Based on the video someone posted, it’s not very portable either.
I feel that little part of my brain that wants to add yet another standard itching. Easily starting something at boot is good, but I don’t see why that has to come with loss of modularity.
and they can come up with something better than this
I bet they can’t. Soon enough they probably are just going to have to accept some users will be bots.
I did. Really, it’s a binary choice. Uncomfortably hard captcha, or no captcha. Ineffective captcha wastes everyone’s time.
Maybe you have an idea for one that will still be effective while being easier, but I don’t, and apparently they, the professionals, don’t either. Until such a system surfaces, this is it.
Yeah, but, there’s probably not any way to make this easier while still stopping bots. Either they do no captcha and you can’t compete with all the non-humans using whatever service, or they do this. Pick your poison.
The acceleration I’m seeing now makes me think we’ve reached a terminal point. There will be no way to tell humans from bots quickly, cheaply and anonymously soon, and services will just have to adapt or die.
Yeah, that does sound better. What are the arguments for init?
Depending which country we’re talking about. Top 5% in Malawi is probably still a person who needs to pirate, although I could be wrong about that with 3rd world wealth inequality.
Edit: Based on the top 10% figure, guesses and napkin math, that’s an income of about 5000USD annually, so yeah pirate away.
Well, congratulations on finding a way to mention it.
I mean, we’re still friends with Cuba, and never did get involved in Iraq which wasn’t so long ago.
Oh no, it’s turning black. Chairman forgive me!
It looks exactly like a receipt that could be here, too. As has been repeatedly pointed out to me, there’s only 2 to 4 countries this could apply to, but you’ll excuse me for expecting the same thing as always was happening.
No, you’re advice was great. I just found the phrasing weird enough to point out. Sorry if it came across as angry.
Don’t forget New Zealand. They do tip down under, but it sounds like they don’t recommend tips the same way.
Yeah, sure, the jist applies everywhere. OP could have saved words just saying “representitives”. That’s the part that was interesting, and now people are big butthurt I pointed it out.
My instant thought was that that’s amazing, my next thought was along the lines of how badly that would murder freezer space unless you open the bag. Can I open the bag?
