It’s okay. We all have weird ideas in our heads that we think are good but once we share them with see how flawed they are. It happened a few time with me too.
Sorry, I don’t know the answer. I think it’s highly unlikely since encryption makes the data unreadable but I imagine it be possible to decrypt the data from inside the phone, backup it and then re-encrypt it after restoration. Still not that sure tho so you can search the net and see if it’s doable .
I thought pigeons were the sky rats but they got nothing on the mighty Ibises. Truly marvelous creatures.
I tried combining it with other words but none felt correct. Maybe " Ibis’s library" as a nod to “Anna’s archive”
I don’t mean in any way to offend you, but you speak like someone that knows quite a lot about tech and might even work in the industry, yet your story feels like it’s told by someone that lacks any of that knowledge and it’s honestly very fascinating to read.
If i remember correctly, newpipe is completely open source and use an unofficial api to scrap youtube. Even if Google is scummy I don’t think youtube can do what you’re suspecting it of doing.
Do you suffer from paranoia or anything else ? Please check with a doctor.
Ibis ? Each article would be a parchment of knowledge. Check the myth and legends section : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_sacred_ibis
I only watched his pathologic video because it was recommended by several other youtubers in their videos and it was good . I also tried watching his other contents but none was interesting to me. Anyway, he seems to be one of these YouTube essayists that make several hours long videos about a random subject. The videos are mostly based on his feelings towards that thing as it can be seen from his videos titles which are essentially : why “thing” is actually bad/mid/great. He has another serie called something like “a moderate response to " flat earthers/ anti-vaxers/etc”.
He recently made a 4 hours video blaming another famous youtuber for plagiarism. ( at least, thats what people summerised it to me).
Tldr : nonsense youtube drama.
Why ? What’s wrong with using Latin letters ? Calling your child with the name of a character from a “current popular media” isn’t new, which may includes foreign names or outright made up. For exemple : A lot of people called their children Daenerys based on the character from game of thrones or the Turkish name Eren from the character on attack on titans. Using a combo of scripts almost nobody can read is meaningless.
Actual full backups, for one.
Servo and ladybird are our best hope to fight against Google monopoly. Considering they both new they can try emulating all the weird quirks of chrome so that compatibility with the net is maximal. Honestly, Mozilla being the only alternative to chrome is scary. Heck, Mozilla being an alternative for users didn’t stop Google from implementing things to take control of the internet.
I have like 4 gigs of flatpak updates I keep unchecking because at my horrible internet speed it would take the entire day if not more to download. Honestly, if you’re right then this is a horrendous design flaw.
There was an app that dealt with this but it’s since been abandoned.
There was an app that dealt with desktop entry and auto-update but it hasn’t bee updated since a few years already.
no repo (= virus danger)
Can be remedied with an official store/ being distrubuted by the devs themselves instead of random people. Appimage isn’t getting a tenth of the support flatpak is getting.
no deduplication of libraries
Might worth it if you have dozens of very heavy apps but it’s totally not the case if you only need a few simple programs.
I bought 2 different Bluetooth earphones that I ended up rarely ever using and instead use my standard quality cable headphones.
That’s why I think AppImage is the best. Despite needing to pack everything it needs it’s always far more lightweight than flatpak. I’d rather download a 50mb appimage than several gigabytes of an entire OS libraries and then the updates requiring roughly the same size. That and I have a shitty internet
So it’s far worse than I remember. Honestly, I can see the 1-2 mb limit be enough for very casual use but a 5gb data cap for a month is beyond a joke.
Why would I want it to not be a scam ? I don’t even use it. Years ago, I heard about internet satellite and got curious, so I searched a bit about it and found out it was really expensive. I don’t remember exactly but it was more or less in the 100s of dollars monthly for an abysmal speed like " up to 8mb" or something.
If anyone used internet satellite a few years before starlink was launched please correct me if I am wrong.
If ISPs weren’t greedy bastards that don’t care the slightest about their users and gave everyone fiber then yeah, it’s wasteful. Sadly, for a lot of people in rural and inaccessible areas and on sea, it’s the only way to access internet.
It’s not a scam. Satellite internet was extremely expensive and slow last time I checked a few years before starlink. Yeah , musk is garbage but starlink is actually helping a lot of people worldwide.
I apologize if my comment above offended you. Again, I didn’t mean that at all. Look, I completely acknowledge everything you said as truths and that’s why I understand and respect people that go overboard with their privacy, they’re not crazy conspiracy theories believers but instead are very knowledgeable people that have genuine concerns based on real facts and events. But you need to understand that you are chasing an uncatchable rabbit that’s taking you into deeper and deeper levels of paranoia. The connection you made about youtube links waking up your smartTV is plausible in a very cyberpunk twisted way, yes,and so are many other dystopic ideas, but it is also very far fetched and extremely unlikely because security researchers would’ve discovered such horrible thing sooner or later and it wouldn’t be worth it.
In a perfect world, everything would be transparent but it isn’t the case, so you should absolutely take care of your privacy, but not obsesse over it.
