If that person has a networth of…say, roughly 230 billions…that 50mil isn’t even a noticeable change.
The “we can do it by end of this year” he’s been toting since 2016 wasn’t a giveaway?
At least those are illegal (although perhaps not enforced well enough)
It’s unfortunately not happy days and rainbows in “competition land” either though. It usually just leads to a race to the bottom in the pursuit of infinite profit growth, forcing them to lower quality in a never ending downwards spiral, leaving the customer with shit on all sides.
Maybe it’s different in the US, but where I live the utility company only services the main fuse that supplies the property. Everything else is done by electricians paid for by the owner.
If you don’t bloat the software it will run the same year 10 as in year 1. The reason electronics get slow, is because developers tend to get lazy when compute resources are abundant.
Apple being massive unethical assholes…what a surprise.
Unless the property owner is managing maintenance etc. directly themselves, it would be a herculean task to support and maintain thousands of small installations spread out across the country instead of a handful of solar farms.
Yeah software in most cars is really underdeveloped and neglected, leaving it in a horrible state. Manufacturers have handled the transition to a digital interface extremely bad.
Volume is already handled from the steering wheel in all modern cars? Can you even get cars anymore without steering wheel controls for basic things like volume/mute, calls etc.?
As for gear shifter, that’s not important, you’re not changing gears while moving unless you’re driving a manual, in which case it’s still a mechanical lever anyways.
Physical buttons have wiring harness failure, mechanical failure, and software failure…pretty much exactly the same amount as the touchscreen solution.
What boggles my mind is that cheap, snappy, easy-to-use touchscreen interfaces have been a solved issue for well over a decade with the proliferation of smartphones…why the hell do car manufacturers suck so much at implementing it!? They’re all slow bug-ridden shitshows.
Reverse engineering an API is not illegal
I mean, it doesn’t 50 active notes so I guess they decided that creation of 50 notes is what’s allowed regardless of how many active you have left.
…or it’s a bug, but generally I tend not to give businesses the benefit of the doubt.
You can’t even enable it if it can’t detect lines on the road
I’m not sure why people have issues differentiating FSD and Autopilot honestly, they have separate names that are not similar sounding.
I 100% agree that FSD has been falsely advertised for almost a decade now though.
It handles the same roads and conditions as pretty much all other manufacturers do with their TACC+Lane-Assist solutions. It maintains distance to vehicles ahead, and keeps the car centered in the lane on straight road and gentle curves…nothing more.
The issue is people using this simple ADAS way outside it’s constraints, and wanting it to be more than it is, and is advertised as. Autopilot is not a self driving solution, and isn’t advertised as it either. It has the same limitations as other ADAS solutions in other cars, but apparently because Tesla calls their solution “Autopilot” people completely disregard warnings and limitations of the system and insist on using it as a self driving solution.
using the technology along a rural stretch of Florida highway where the software isn’t supposed to be deployed.
Idiot drivers do idiot things, hardly unique to Tesla drivers. The whole autopilot feature-set is pretty clearly marked as beta on the screen with a clear warning, that you have to acknowledge to enable, that it is considered a beta-feature and that you should be attentive when using it.
I agree that the FSD feature-set is advertised with capabilities it in no way possesses. But everyone seems to forget that autopilot and FSD are two separate things. Autopilot is only TACC+Lane-Assist and isn’t advertised as a fully self driving technology.

It pretty much already is…it’s not a coincidence that people in marketing and sales are considered the least trustworthy.
Features of whatever external devices you bring to your car, is not a feature of the car.
AFAIK, only Tesla has native video streaming from the interface screen in the car, so most cars still don’t have this functionality.
