I was meaning to respond but I think other’s have. I have one of those 30+ min YouTube videos or similarly ridiculously long blog posts (and a longform article somewhere…) though I think you might not be interested so I’ll keep it to myself unless you are interested in a good faith argument (argument, root word is the latin argumentum, to make clear; prove), I would rather not waste your time or my breath if that isn’t the case.
The rule of law in a specific geographic area in a specific period of time isn’t nearly as important as the meaning conveyed which is misleading.
Rather than missing the forest for the trees, why might he push for the title of founder? Why might some discredit his efforts and tactics in assuming the founder of title in specific contexts?
He did not play a meaningful role in the beginning of the company and is not responsible for its success. Money was responsible, the two founders’ expertise was responsible, that specific person is not special enough for their contribution to matter much. Anyone can supply capital especially during the inflated economic conditions (of which we are suffering the consequences of now) and during the time where EV and technology at large was developed enough to allow such developments to take place.
I’m more in the data analysis side. Bioinformatics and all that jazz, I have a bit if python and scripting under my belt and I’ve struggled to learn more.
It’s early access so I don’t think it counts, but I played the demo some time ago: Gloomwood
What’s unfortunate is someone might feel bad and they will be given support (some of the time, other times chastised for their naïveté) while people connected to the affected are justifiably and rationally furious. The latter, whose likely material conditions are poor are verbally abused and their sentiments invalidated. Further justifying contempt and separation from the powers who allowed and did rectify the atrocious conduct.
As a result communities may become insular, which is a tragedy. Whatever cooperation or solidarity might have been possible withers away prematurely. And pointing any of this out to one of the majority never seems to be taken seriously. They don’t have evidence on their side, only convenient sentiments which happen to aid them in their interests. It makes me question my sanity as at times I cannot tell if I am even in the same reality as others.
Would suggest Yi Yi if you liked this, both masterpieces in my opinion.
In the Mood for Love is incredible
So many, I’ll lump in HK and Taiwanese films as well but note they are a bit distinct.
Yi Yi (masterpiece) In the Mood for Love (masterpiece) Infernal Affairs 1 & 2 (inspiration for Departed by Scorsese) Youth (2016, nostalgic, mainlander friend thought it was ok however I found the arc of the protagonist to be splendid) Chungking Express (really hits on vibes of solitude, connection, and moving on)
Those are the first that come to mind, there are many many more.
EDIT: Red Cliff is an epic, think historical Lord of The Rings set during a significant battle in the Three Kingdoms Period.
Willing to admit my ignorance. Thanks for the info.
Nah, men are worse at risk management, we need to up our game to change our behaviours and habits.
With something like the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, you can run sandboxed Play Store apps using their GBox store. They also have their own app store, App Gallery (I think that’s the name) which have quite a number of apps already.
There is another Play Store sandbox app store too, I think it works well enough from what I read.
I have a device I could run the dev version of HarmonyOS on, I was thinking about how it would be nice to develop for it.
I won’t be able to though because I can’t code :/
Hope you aren’t doxxing yourself comrade, be safe.
I be hearin’ talk of reactionaries lurkin’ in these waters!
I like the pride flag with the chevron and circle more.
I read one of Neal Stephenson’s more recent works, I forget which, in it he talks about a region near Washington State and the surrounding area which was called Ameristan. In it you need to wear clothing of one material, women need to cover themselves, etc. The people lived in an evangelical theocratic state which interpreted the Bible literally.
One interesting point was the interpretation of ‘rocks’ to be a coded message for ‘bullets’. The idea was that ‘bullets’ would not have been understood in antiquity, in the contemporary era it could be understood as such and was awfully convenient for USians who fetishize firearms.
Seeing this kinda stuff makes me think Ameristan is not too far off.
Wholeheartedly agree. Though I am not sure I would agree with your framing of it being ‘left’ or ‘right’. For sure the content seems to have more vitriol and divisiveness. I would use it in the past to follow scientists and their updates about research, it was really good for that.
Now the majority of those I follow post inflammatory comments or reactions to other content and I find the content writ large has decreased. I’ve so far increased my RSS, IRC, and mailing list usage, but it was nice to have tweets which are character-limited. I could skim through easier without having something catch my attention.
I remember they used to own Lenovo. Ngl, I feel that it’s thrived after it was sold, their Yoga line and novel products are very interesting.
I think it’s work that does the work, a tautology, I think using money as a proxy for work is a convenient hop and skip. When it comes down to a rigorous analysis (of the kind say a climate scientist does in a life-cycle assessment money is to vague a reason. What does it represent? Some amount of gold? Well, the US dollar is no longer pegged to gold à la Bretton Woods, how then does ‘money talk’?
