So the instances which can’t access Facebook content but can still be seen by Facebook… that will show 'em

That’s not my point. We’ve had good AIs and much development in that area of research already 50 years ago. Chess computers started being better than the best humans in the early 2000s. It’s not a particularly new field. But the development and research of artificial intelligence already completely stopped two times and it took over a decade each time to really start research in the field as well.
The reasons why this happened is because of too big promises; even if they succeeded in some things, they promised way too much. If they continue promising way too much in the current AI hype as well, I can see the exact same thing happening again: People getting disappointed and the field getting isolated for another decade.
I’m not saying the current successes will disappear, but that future development might, for a good while, just as it happened back then.
The worst part about is it that there have been already two winters in AI development, in the early twothousands and sometimes in the 70/80s? I think? because of exactly this: They always hyped up AI and said they’d solve all the world’s problems in a short time, and when that obviously didn’t happen, people got disappointed in it and pulled funding…
Connecting superintelligence to the board’s recent actions, which Sutskever initially supported, might be a stretch.
Why do you do that in your headline then?
People who have ever only used one operating system, and tried to apply everything how they use that exactly to a different one are awful. Yeah, different OSs are different, that’s the point of it. That you don’t do everything exactly how you are used on it, doesn’t make the OS bad, you just need some time to get accustomed to some things being different.
The people here are the most biased possible.
What if you don’t have Edge installed
That’s not mildly infuriating; that’s horrible and super infuriating!
I’m sorry :(
But… you can’t sign-in on multiple devices and see the message history there?!
It is, the whole purpose of Ruffle is to play flash files, but without a security threat (which is the whole reason Flash doesn’t exist anymore).
It’s running in a sandbox afaik, and the goal is to replace Flash but stay secure. Since it uses Web Assembly, you can’t use Ruffle in any way to create any security threat, you couldn’t create without using Ruffle. (Different to Flash, which created tons of new security threats, even leading to the plugin being disable).
Wait what; how could 10% of the instances just disappear?!
Yes, that’s actually how I got to try Voyager, and now I use that on my phone!
What I meant was rather a desktop friendly UI (which has such a more modern look like new Reddit). Voyager is great, but obviously in a very iOS style and made for mobile.
Now I’m waiting for new.lemmy.world!
I think it would be actually cool to have a UI like that which has images and links directly expanded (like e.g. Voyager has, but for desktop) and is just more modern and spacey. Not sure if any like that exists yet though.
Besides that, thank you of course! I won’t use it, but I appreciate an admin caring about and listening to the community. That’s quite refreshing :)
5 years seems like a reasonable time to be fair. One year definitely not, at least not to be meaningful anymore.
That’s sounds 100% right and is 100% right
To be fair, I’ve seen so many like them on Twitter
And every morning (or like at 5-6 am when I was going to bed), the (not personalized) Germany trends were full of stuff like “Good morning”, “Hello”, and the names of individual people.
Just as a general rule: It will never stay the same amount of upvotes. If you wanna upvote it, just do it. If not, someone else will upvote or downvote it instead and it will lose the score anyways. By now it’s over 170…
Defederating doesn’t stop that, it just stops that their IP gets shared with us.
