If I’m posting I’m probably high so don’t hate on me
Either the article is really short of neither of those worked at least for me on mobile.
This is paywalled, can you please post the text?
Artists and writers should be entitled to compensation for using their works to train these models, just like any other commercial use would. But, you know, strict, brutal free-market capitalism for us, not the mega corps who are using it because “AI”.
It’s not my thing but I appreciate just how much depth and substance Star Trek has to it and the sci-fi theme is a perfect fit for most people who frequent Lemmy.
I don’t mean they literally told me to get stuffed. They won’t personally take your call nor read your letter. You might get lucky and they’ll let you physically come into their office but that’s about as far as you’ll get.
The last thing I want to do is navigate a tablet when I’m operating a vehicle. I don’t know how it ever made sense in the first place.
Having done this before and being told to basically get stuffed from one of their underlings I have zero faith in it. It’s basically just another token thing that’s about as useful as “thoughts & prayers” for the most part.
Microtransactions aside, if you’re trying to protect your kids from creeps online you’re gonna have to ban every platform that supports interactions with strangers. This includes several other games you’ve mentioned in the comments including Minecraft.
Personally, instead of banning it I just play it with my kids on a regular basis. There’s plenty of actually decent games on Roblox and it enables game ideas that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day. My favourite is the Ikea survival game.
Good luck with that, your voice is going to be drowned out by all the companies masquerading as “people” whom they really represent.
Nah I don’t care about that, I care about it being shoved in their faces. My kids are at least old enough to know about these topics somewhat and can make the distinction between video game violence and some cam girl.
If they want to look at this stuff I’m not naive enough to think they won’t find a way to do so. But I’m not about to make it as easy as being recommended it by Twitch just because Bezos wants more ad revenue.
If Twitch wants to be an adult platform then they should honestly.
Unfortunately, most parents are not tech savvy and don’t understand Twitch or how kids use the internet at all. On the face of it to most parents it just looks like a gaming thing. To these people the internet is basically platforms like Facebook on their phones. When they eventually hopefully catch little Johnny watching furry penises on Twitch it’s already too late and a lot of parents lack even the parenting skills to deal with that appropriately. Sadly, it doesn’t take much intelligence to procreate.
Personally, I’ve just blocked Twitch outright on my firewall with this change in policy for my kids and continue to monitor what they do as always. But fortunately unlike the majority of parents I actually know how to deal with it either way.
These things never work at all.
Can I remote desktop a Linux PC with this, either with Wayland or X.org?
My only issue is that kids use the platform a lot and shouldn’t be exposed to overly sexualised content when they’re just looking for gaming content. Twitch apparently says they’ll try to remove it from the front page but stuff inevitably gets though.
Our plastic Christmas tree. It’s a constant battle.
You won’t get justice or change anything about how the guy acts so you have to make changes yourself that you can control. Let yourself be free of needing his approval and attention. You deserve respect at least as much as you’d expect from any other person, being family doesn’t absolve them of it. If he won’t be respectful, then stop calling him, let his calls go to voice mail, stop seeing him and fill your time with people who are respectful. You can’t change him but you don’t have to put up with it either.
Ideally what VMWare Workstation does would be preferable as the stuff isn’t like super heavy 3D but it needs a little more than what CPU alone provides.
Ubuntu attacted a lot of control freaks because Shuttleworth was originally splashing some money when it started and a bunch of nerds saw dollar signs. As a result they have a culture of “not invented here” syndrome where someone just has to reinvent the wheel in only the way they see it and they don’t work well with others or accept their input because they want all the credit.
Personally, I got sick of it having been pretty involved early on in the project. It’s easier and saner to just use a distro based on what everyone else is doing.
