  • PC Warlock (A): I finish my turn, open the door and take a short rest."

Me (GM): So you what, slump against the wall and take a nap?

    PC Warlock (A): “Effectively.”

Me (GM): “You can clearly see an armored bandit in the next room, along with three skeleton archers and another set at the far wall.”

PC Warlock (A): “Can they reach me on this turn?”

    Me (GM): “No?”

PC Warlock (A): “Can they hit me with a ranged attack, this turn?”

    Me (GM): “Also no”

    PC Warlock (A): “Short rest.”

  • I gained sympathy for artificial intelligence and robots from Detroit: Become Human, I think I missed the social message it was portraying in lieu of the science fiction one.

I see an enormous amount of fear and hate being levied out towards artificial intelligence currently around the world, fears it’ll take away jobs and opportunities from real humans, or launch the nukes or something.

I think it’s important to not be racist rowards other humans and organics, but also to be kind to non-humans, machines, and animals. Have compassion towards all sentient beings.

  • I’ve asked extremely high end AI questions on ethics of this nature and after thinking for exactly 14.7 seconds it responded with:

    • The ethics of generating images, sound, or other representations of real people is considered no different than active imagination when done for fun and in privacy.

    • However, spreading those images to others, without the original person’s consent is considered a form of invasion of privacy, impersonation, and is therefore unethical.

Basically, you’re fine with imagining Robin Williams talking to you, but if you record that and share it with others/disseminate the content, then it becomes unethical.

I have a folder on my D: called OLDINSTALL.

It’s my entire hard drive from 1996, including DOS.

I think it’s a couple hundred megabytes in size, but the vast majority of the files and games were exclusively in floppy disk format.

I don’t have a floppy drive or any disks anymore.

  • Hello fellow space alien posting on Terran communications boards.

All of your points are correct with the following exception:

Matter replicators expend energy to convert it into matter, or do the opposite. It is a lossy process, meaning you do not get 100% as a return. The best S+ or A-5 engineered units are 88-98% efficient.

    • Theoretically, fuel in space is “infinite” as stars and hydrogen are literally everywhere, so going to planets to gather resources to disassemble in replicators is both a literal waste of time and energy. Dilithium crystals in the show are a hilarious example of contrived scarcity for plot.

    1. They have carpets on the TV show. Carpets. On a space ship. That is guaranteed not a warship, because carpets.

I’ve taken the mass hit and installed gray carpets in key locations of our own ships and instigated a no shoes policy and I’ll tell you what, it’s never been more comfortable :)

You should definitely try installing carpets
