The issue isn’t data transmission and hosting, it’s paying someone a living wage to do this work professionally, along with their editors, graphic artists, analysts, and everyone else along the way that writes the news. It’s a bit absurd that people complain about ads and low quality reporting/analysis while simultaneously demanding all journalists work for free. Hell, if you get a library card you’ll probably be able to legitimately access the article right now for free in a way that still pays the journalist.

There is a legal, regulated, mostly safe method to buy cigarettes. It is inaccessible if you are under a certain age, but only the seller/provider is punished for violating regulations. It’s okay to have restrictions on what children can consume.
While current laws on illegal drugs do not work, arguing against any regulation whatsoever is similarly silly, the laws obviously work. Smoking rates have dramatically declined since those laws and public education campaigns began.
If you’re a power user there’s a minor learning curve to prevent shit from breaking and some mild inconveniences like being unable to use NFC. Location can also just not work at times. Overall, I’m glad I made the switch.

There’s a very real argument that it does mess with the consumer’s head. The person being hurt is the consumer of the media and while some unhealthy behaviors can be okay in reason, there’s also risks in terms of how it makes the consumer view the world and people in it. Violent video games don’t make people more violent, but imagery in porn does affect how consumers of porn view people and relationships.
Not actually sure this is banal? The story is a staffing shortage of air traffic controllers and several near misses due to them being exhausted. Just because there hasn’t been a problem yet doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem at all.
Yes, but the layperson’s perspective doesn’t really matter here and it’s worth reading the NYT piece. The underlying issue is that air traffic controllers are overworked and making mistakes due to staffing shortages and mandatory overtime while working a mentally taxing job. There are legitimate concerns that if this isn’t addressed, we could see actual collisions and casualties.

There’s many but the classic action ones, for me, are The Rock, Con Air, Patriot Games, The Sum of All Fears, Air Force One, Starship Troopers, Pacific Rim, and Die Hard/er.
On the lighter side, I’ll always watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Superbad, Anchorman, This is the End, Hot Tub Time Machine, Pirates of the Caribbean, Blazing Saddles, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and The Emperor’s New Groove.
But if you can afford it buy the subscription.
You have to just accept the kind of campy look to the show, as well as some of the more questionable acting and dialogue choices. Once you just accept that this will be the presentation, you can focus on the story, which is very insightful and complex. At its heart it’s a political drama about American intervention in the Arab-Israeli conflict (never explicitly stated, but it’s pretty evident almost immediately), with a shadowy outside threat, presented through a sci-fi lens. Then it adds way more mysticism and fantasy elements as the series progresses. It’s a fantastic exploration of human nature, I strongly recommend it.
It left HBO before I could finish the last season. I just got a Tubi account so I can close it out.

Agreed. I’m friends with a few journalists and even the ones who had a steady job at major outlets were working it like a hustle. There really isn’t a good way to do it that doesn’t involve some level of either corporate or wide-public investment and both of those have an easy chance to get corrupted.
