So, good for them (England), I guess?
So, good for them (England), I guess?
Cheaper too, you don’t have to buy a new insulting tie for every work meeting.
While I generally agree, nothing’s as cheap as having your people pay for your exquisite tie collection.
I wasnt aware that Klein changed his mind on Maaßen at last
From the article you linked:
Klein now says he regrets his decision to defend Maaßen. “In view of his radicalization, I’ve distanced myself from Maaßen,” he told me.
In 2021, following an accusation of antisemitism on live national tv by climate activist Neubauer towards Maaßen, Klein said:
“The accusation of anti-Semitism is a sharp sword and requires clear and unambiguous evidence. Anyone who makes this accusation should be aware of their responsibility for German history. It is our duty as citizens of this country to state this clearly and precisely”
This was because Neubauer, besides (rightfully, imo) accusing Maaßen of being antisemitic, couldn’t produce concrete evidence to support her statement. I don’t read Klein’s statement as a defence of Maaßen but rather a warning against the “thoughtless” use of the word in order to preserve its gravity.
Besides, which opinion of Klein shall we take into consideration in 2023? The one from 2021 or the one from 2023?
By omitting his most recent opinion on the matter, you create a spin. I don’t think this platform should partake in the general trend of decreasing quality of discussions.
and the former leader of the german interior intelligence the “constitution protection” is spurting antisemitic dogwhistles over twitter and running as a candidate for Germanys conservative party. When he was accused of antisemitism for talking about “globalists” and other antisemitic conspiracies, the federal commissioner to fight antisemitism defended him, saying that this serious accusation should not be used lighthearted.
Nice spin!
Following the antisemitic tweets of Maaßen in January 2023, the national board of the conservative party decided unanimously to initiate proceedings to have him expelled from the party. Due to historical reasons, removing someone from a party against their will is notoriously hard in Germany. And so, in June 2023, a district party court rejected these expulsion proceedings and reinstated his member rights, but there also have been numerous calls by party colleagues for him to leave the party.
Concerning the Anti-Semitism Commissioner of the Federal Government, Klein has been relatively clear with his condemnation of Maaßen’s January tweets. He accused him of relativising the Holocaust by “adopting vocabulary that was coined to describe National Socialist crimes”. The distortion of the roles of perpetrator and victim was “typical of anti-Semitic incitement” and the strategy of the New Right to turn itself into a victim.
The real TL;DR:
China wants a major European country to invest, so it can gain better leverage on said country to block European laws threatening China’s business model.
Because China will.
They don’t plan. They just do until Putins tells them otherwise.
The Hungarian populace has to get rid of him. I know this is easy for me to say as an extern. But there just isn’t any other way. All “we” can do as the EU is to apply constant pressure on him, which so far has always been hindered by a like-minded European ally of his (Poland, now Slovakia?). He needs to be kicked out by his own people.
Now, wouldn’t that be a shame! Being kicked out of the EU a week before that factory’s opening date…
Of course Orban seeks for new friends for when the companies of the free world are finally fed up and leave his country.
And obviously he looks for those friends in countries as authoritarian as his mindset.
At least, the Chinese won’t take any of his bs and will have him obediently answering to their commands.
Now we only need to get him out of the EU, so he becomes the financial burden of the Chinese and no longer ours.
Feeling strong and important. Something that is apparently especially important when you are neither.
A short victorious war against either Israel or the West, or even both, is a thing my fantasy isn’t strong enough to imagine.
Just what his country needs: more political-economical instability.
As a genuinly curious Fritz-user: such as?
Isn’t Morawiecki also of (distant) German descent? Even JKMs surname Mikke used to be Mücke at some point in history. Heck, when you live as close as we do, neighbours will fall in love regularly…
Seems like they will choke on this “stepping stone”…
Russia always has SAMs ready for pax planes…
