Battery life. I worked an entire day - 8 hours - on my M1 Pro unplugged. You simply can’t get that with anything but Apple silicon.

The Apple M processors really are game changers. Not only are they fast but generate little heat and sip power. I’m a software developer and use an M1 Pro for work. When I went on the road with it the first time I forgot to get out the charger and plug it in when I setup at a table. Realized it at lunch and shocked I still had plenty of battery left it unplugged. I worked the entire 8 hour day on battery. You won’t find an Intel or AMD processor that’ll do that.
I still have my home-built AMD 5950x PC with Windows that I use for gaming and personal projects. I have Linux Mint on my home server. If I was in the market for a laptop that I was going to be using a lot away from my home desk, I’d get a Mac laptop just for the incredible battery life and performance. Apple takes advantage of people for what they charge for memory and storage but the Apple silicon is quality.
Nope. Soldered directly onto the motherboard now and no expansion.
It’s a problem for adults too. Circulating an AI generated nude of a female coworker is likely to be just as harmful as a real picture. Just as objectifying, humiliating and hurtful. Neighbors or other “friends” doing it could be just as bad.
It’s sexual harassment even if fake.
Seems available to me but I’m not paying $2/month to use it. I’d buy it but I’m not creating a perpetual subscription.
As an android user with a wife and kids that have iPhone, it’s obnoxious that any video my wife and kids attach to a group message gets auto-reduced to sub-potato quality. We send them with Facebook messenger now but I can see where other groups might simply exclude the people with Androids to avoid the need to use alternate apps. Apple k ows what it’s doing.
Even if they didn’t ask him to do it, if he instantly produced a truckload of code they knew where it came from and that it was illegally obtained.
My issues with LG TVs is they’re 1) still missing support for the ESPN app which is a big deal if you’re into sports and 2) only allow casting to them from a white-list of sites. So your can’t just stream anything from Chrome on your computer and cast to the TV. If the website isn’t white-listed, you’re out of luck.
I’ve also had issues with pihole interfering with the TV too. Not a pihole expert though so I’m trying to figure out how to work around it.
What fees do you find waived and for what airline? I haven’t noticed TicketMaster-like convenience fees with the ones I fly
In this era of highly targeted advertising when companies charge more to put your ads in front of highly specific people groups and demographics, companies like X can easily keep your ads from being associated with white supremacists… they just don’t want to.
X knows it’s popular with these hate groups and they want to monetize them. They’re making money by placing eyeballs on an ad. They’re just hoping no one notices that they’re including hate groups in the eyeballs they’re charging you for. If they can’t display ads to the hate groups then they might actually have to stop allowing the content and they really don’t want to have to do that.

Service Charges: A compulsory charge for service, for example, 15 percent of the bill, is not considered a tip under the FLSA. Sums distributed to employees from service charges are not tips, but may be used to satisfy the employer’s minimum wage and overtime pay obligations under the FLSA.
A place implementing a service charge cannot classify it as a tip, even if it’s 100% passed onto the employee… a mandatory charge is not a tip, even if the restaurant encourages you to treat it that way. Certain states and jurisdictions tax tips differently than regular wages, and service charges are wages, not tips.
Except you’re wrong. Service charges are not considered tips under FLSA rules within the US. Many states and local jurisdictions have special rules for tipped wages, how they’re taxed and those taxes are collected, and service charges are not included in that definition.

It all depends. I don’t have a will of steel, that’s for sure. I started it to lose weight but have continued after my chronic heartburn stopped immediately, my eczema went away, my blood sugar came down and my triglycerides dropped to a normal range. I take 0 prescription meds now.
I feel so much better, no longer have heartburn wake me up in the middle of the night, and no longer have my fingers crack and bleed from eczema. 7 years in and it’s really no trouble staying on the diet. The 45 lbs I lost turned out to be a minor benefit of the diet, not the major benefit.
I disagree.
It’s rare to hear of someone killing or injuring themselves working on home electrical fixes. I’m pretty old and can’t even recall an incident. Most people won’t do it because they do have enough fear not to play around with it. But if you do know enough, you know how incredibly simple it is to replace an outlet or light switch and how to do it safely. Even a overhead light or fan is pretty trivial. Also the US 120v standard is less likely to cause harm with a stupid mistake than some other countries that have higher voltages. I’m thankful the states allow homeowners to do this themselves.
There are definitely things people shouldn’t do with a license, but swapping switches and outlets is more trivial than changing the oil on your car.
Better to just die if you lose your fortune???
That’s why I love my Garmin. 4 years old and still lasts 5 days.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s a great shell and scripting language. It’s object-oriented nature, native support for virtually every text format (csv, json, xml) and great libraries for others (yaml, excel), awesome regex and web/rest services support… it’s hard to beat and works on virtually every platform.
Too few people in the Linux community will even look at it though since it has MS name on it.
Getting cavities is a lot about the prevelance of sugar and highly-refined carbs. Some people are more susceptible than others due to differences in saliva, but the typical western diet is horrible for your teeth.
Not enough
Had no trouble here on mobile.
