And yet the Deck uses Arch…
I’m a VMware and Windows admin in my work life. I don’t have extensive knowledge of Linux but I have been running Raspberry Pis at home. I can’t remember why but I started to migrate away from installed applications to docker. It simplifies the process should I need to reload the OS or even migrate to a new Pi. I use a single docker-compose file that I just need to copy to the new Pi and then run to get my apps back up and running.
linuxserver.io make some good images and have example configs for docker-compose
If you want to have a play just install something basic, like Pihole.
My wife changed her Windows work laptop last week. Her Desktop is synced to OneDrive so really she just needs to login. Despite that she was panicking that her PDF’s were gone. They weren’t, it’s just that the new laptop has a newer version of Adobe Reader which uses an updated icon.
Some people are just tech illiterate and the slightest difference can be upsetting. My mum’s the same with her phone. Using Google Maps to navigate is an achievement for her and I’ve been telling her to use it for years. The first time she did she reached her destination literally shaking. She was also amazed with herself that she had done it.
No but a large portion of the world uses WhatsApp. Personally, since it became a Meta application I want to move away from it. Doing so though is not easily done without mass adoption. You’re highly dependent on your other contacts.
I was hoping RCS will be the next best thing. But I won’t be holding my breath.
Hah, yes!
They no longer appear for me. The biggest change for me was just using uBlock Origin. Previously I also had Ghostery. If you run multiple extensions for privacy, try dropping them and only using uBlock.
I don’t see why it’s bizarre. Apple worked hard on getting their devices into people’s hands and created an ecosystem to keep people buying their devices again in the future.
Besides, it’s no different from any other countries dependancy on other messaging applications, like WhatsApp!
As a kid, I remember when the schools used to have that paper that literally was paper and on one side being shiny. Shit used to literally smear on the shiny side. I don’t think it actually exists anymore.
That’s always been my argument. Updates for the OS or even apps in Google Play should be presented immediately if the user is doing a manual check for updates. Sure, continue the staged rollouts, but only for those who are updating automatically.
The check for updates button has been working fine for a few years now but as of this month my Pixel 8 is still on the November patch. My wife’s Pixel 6 is on the December patch after I did a manual check on her phone. Frustrating.
If they do that people won’t turn it on. They rely on people to not read things.
I wish someone (EU) would step in and force companies to make data collection settings be opt in rather than opt out.
Samsung loves bloat. Their attempt at creating an ecosystem and therefore lock in to keep using their devices. I like Samsung hardware but their software is shit.
What happened to the ad blocker detection thing a month ago. Did Google remove it or does uBlock Origin have a permanent workaround now rather than needing to clear cache and reload?
It blows my mind every time I see Stardew Valley. Singlehandedly wrote the story, characters, the music, effects, coded the game etc. Simply stunning.
Me either. Not that I’m advocating this BS practice!
I run Docker containers on a Pi 4 using the RPi OS. For the longest time I’ve been using Plex. I wanted to give Jellyfin a go though, so just created a new compose file and mounted my TV/Movies directories. Other than the first time setup of Jellyfin I don’t touch it now. Plex and Jellyfin run side by side. To update I just do a docker-compose pull every so often. Super simple.
Click bait headline.
The original got a PS5 update to 60 FPS. I think what we’re actually seeing is the remaster that will hit the PC. Same routine as the first game which saw a remaster for the PS5, then the PC and eventually the TV series. No doubt this will fall in line for season 2.
Is that confirmed now? It was actually a major reason why I decided against the iphone when upgrading my phone this year.
OP never bothered to research their purchase properly to buy a TV with a centre stand…
I’ve been using Linux more and more recently but one thing that annoys me is my EndevourOS thinks the PC is not in when I’m playing games via a gamepad, therefore dims the screen and tries to sleep. How do I fix this? I’m honestly surprised I even need to.
