Google is making easier and easier for me to degoogle my life. Bit by bit I change to foss apps and never look back
Good. That’ll be the day I finally update to windows 11 Linux
It’s sadly not perfect as @Mananasi@feddit.nl also states, and since I like maths related stuff too and science it’ll likely filter out too much stuff. But I appreciate your efforts. An ai algorithm or a community created blacklist is probably the only solution.
I have been wondering how I could do the same for X (formerly known as twitter). I’m tired of reading about it every day. I don’t know how to filter it out since it’s just one letter and it’ll filter out everything just containing an X in a word
I don’t use anything but water under my arms. I found that after a while my armpits stopped smelling as bad. Maybe I’m just lucky. It’s all about bacteria. The sweat itself has no odor but the bacteria unde your arms feast on the sweat and starts producing smelly “farts”. I found that over time I build up bacteria that doesn’t smell and bacteria that actively remove any smel, so if I smell from stress sweat it’ll dampen down quite a bit over the following hour or so. Treat your armpits like a sour dough in your fridge. It’s a set of healthy bacteria you don’t want to accidentally kill. Interesting enough if I use soap to wash every day my armpits starts smelling stronger again so for daily wash I basically just use a lot of water and rince each armpit for a solid 30 sec to a minute each rubbing with my hand. Soap kills the good bacteria too and makes it worse. If you use any only use a tiny little bit. I also found that shaving my armpits makes me smell so much more and it’s uncomfortable too because I can feel the sweat drip down because it has nothing to cling too and cool you down which is exactly what it’s ment to do, so I basically just let my hairs be and it helps me sweat less and smell less. I’m lucky I don’t have that much hair but I’d assume it could be trimmed rather than shaved for many. There’s a reason we have hairs under our arms and they do serve an Important function. For me gone are the days of yellowed t-shirts from deodorant and Gone are the days of allergy inducing perfume.
I have a raspberry pi with a cheap 5TB usb drive at my parents house that boots up once a week and pulls a backup. I use rsnapshot to create incremental updates that takes up every little space and is easy to manage. I have the drive accessible with smb should I ever need to pull a copy from there. It’s super slow but that doesn’t matter for an off-site backup and it is super cheap
Edit: I should maybe add for future readers that cheap does not mean cheap quality but cheap relative to the amount af TB you get per dollar. I use a WD shingled drive wich is quality drive but cheap and slow af. But it doesnt matter because the internet connection is the bottleneck anyway.
I guess it’s time to just move on with your life if it comes to this
Most ads are for products in another country so even if I hypothetically wanted it I can’t get it so why waste my time on it. And if they are multinational companies I usually don’t want anything to do with it. I also just don’t want to be advertised to. It’s wasting my time because 99.99% of the time it’s irrelevant to me.
I’ve been ripe for testing nix out for a while now, and I’m super excited. I just don’t have a machine to test it on first, and I absolutely hate dual booting. If I have energy one day maybe I’ll setup a VM to test it out in. I’m really hopeful to have it as my main daily driver os especially for its portability and stability.
And rip watching a Christopher Nolan Movie without subtitles nowadays
Also wanna add:
I love it. Ubuntu is already bloated enough and have been using the minimal install for a long time. It’s actually better imo. because now the “minimal” version will hopefully include just a bit more so have to manually install a bit less. If I ever got lazy and took the full install I alway uninstall or remove the bloat from my sidebar as the first thing anyway. Hopefully this will strike a nice ballance instead
ISPs are to me like infrastructure. They are like roads or power lines. If you ask the ISPs to block malicious activity it’s like asking the electrical poweregrid to be responsible for stopping their electricity being used for illegal activity. Asking the ISPs to block malicious activity is like asking the road builders to be responsible for bankrobbers and murdere driving on the roads. It’s simply just ridiculous to put the responsibility like that.
Okay hers the thing. It’s naive to think that it’s just “nothing” for rich people. You have to take the rest of the law into consideration. They obviously don’t just take the car from the owner as the only thing with this kind of extream offence (obviously, otherwise it’ll be a dumb law). On top there’s a huge (and I mean huge) fine for the driver and they take your lisence and you are completely banned from driving for X amount of years. After the ban you have to pay for a completely new drivers license which is really expensive but more importantly really time-consuming in Denmark. We are talking weeks of training and mandatory tests, first aid exam and hours of theory and practical lessons. There are payments to a fond that raises money for traffic victims and for multiple offenses or if you drove exceptionally wreklessly there’s possibly jail time. Even if you are rich this is not just “pocket money” there’s more context than you think.

Why would it grind to a haltm I see no reason for this. People just need to drive the speed limit. In Norway for example they have cameras at the begining of long stretches of highway and a camera at the end and if your average speed is higher than allowed it automatically sends you a fine. Those stretches of road are soooo nice to drive because everyone are driving the same speed and it’s so smooth
Also… Just drive the speed limit and noone takes your car away from you
Just don’t lend the car out to anyone you don’t fully trust. Take responsibility of your vehicle and make it clear to the borrower that he/she should drive properly regardles of that being your mom or your best friend. If the car is taken without your consent it’s theft and grounds for the exceptions in the law so you get it back.
The taxi driver could also… Just hear me out… Drive the speed limit and not drive like a maniac. Then he’s fine and noone takes his car.
Antennapod is what I use now. Works just as well as Google podcasts.
