  • This is what I try to do with !superbowl@lemmy.world to spread the word.

You can also look for related communities, like when I stopped by to say hello on !birding@lemmy.world and let them know !superbowl@lemmy.world was having the first annual Owl of the Year bracket tournament, going on now, that they might enjoy participating in.

I try to find times to let people know !superbowl@lemmy.world is a place they can always go for a daily shot of positivity. I see a number of depressing stories in the top posts, do it’s good to know there’s a place to go to swish those depressing things out of your brain.

Other times people might not know !superbowl@lemmy.world isn’t just pictures or memes like you may expect. We go into a lot of education, information, and awareness of animal resources too, as well as where you can go to see real live owls near you.

But it’s also important to spam tastefully. I posted a friendly post on LemmyBeWholesome, which I don’t typically go to, but guy immediately downvoted, so I just deleted the post and moved on, so I didn’t bother anyone if they didn’t want to see it. I feel organic growth is the way to go, so I try to get the word out fairly regularly while being careful I don’t mention !superbowl@lemmy.world toooooon much.

So I just try to keep my spamming limited, try to target an audience, even if it’s just a few people at a time, and try to make the post friendly and entertaining so even if you didn’t go visit !superbowl@lemmy.world immediately that !superbowl@lemmy.world might get stuck in your head for later it you just noticed it more when !superbowl@lemmy.world pops up on ALL, which it does a lot because we have a ton of fun there, especially now with the Owl of the Year, as it allows everyone to participate even if they don’t feel like they have anything to add to the conversation, which I don’t feel is true, but many people feel that way around themselves. Then when I see new people comment on posts, I try to welcome and acknowledge them all and upvote everyone who is polite so they feel like a party of the group.

So I hope this was helpful and entertaining for you, and if you want to check out some cool birds and learn about bird things, check it out !superbowl@lemmy.world today!

  • Ironically my girlfriend used to use one and now doesn’t, but I’ve started to use one.

I found a cheap no name Amazon speaker on the ground in the snow and it still worked. Stuck it in the bathroom since it was obviously waterproof. Now that I’ve grown my hair longer and have to commute again, I’m in the bathroom longer and use the time to finish up the bits of podcast I don’t get to finish on my commute.

Like others have said, sound quality isn’t the best, but gets the job done. With all the other noises in the bathroom, pristine sound isn’t gonna happen from any source, let alone cranked built in phone speakers.

  • I love Aldi and it’s where I get 75% or so of my groceries. I enjoy cooking, so it’s easy to get basic quality ingredients there, and I’ll grab the occasional prepared food as a treat, especially during German week!

They’ve expanded their offerings and still manage a good price. We’ve gotten there ground bison and lamb and dinner frozen duck breasts that have all been great. I like their flake style imitation crab. They have some good seasonal offerings.

Their not having any name brands seems to help them beat the price collusion the other stores have. Giant has bought out most of the stores near me, which doesn’t help, but I buy little enough there I don’t complain much about it.

  • You had me zooming in looking for something. Like others have said, this is the “passing the savings along to you” look.

Target is a little more lively with an actual ceiling and brighter color scheme, but it’s really the same thing with a little extra polish.

This is a Giant Supermarket. Same overall feel as the Walmart, but slightly less warehouse like to make things look more appetizing.

Aldi has done a pretty good job of remodeling. It’s a value brand store where just about everything is store label, and it used to look rougher than Walmart. Now it’s become almost trendy and chic, but prices are still good. Makes the others really look like penny pinchers.

A large part of it is probably stores are so big making it nice would be “cost prohibitive” since they’d require more cleaning and maintenance.

  • I am glad! Lemmy needs more bright little corners of things to make people smile. It’s good to follow politics and news and tech, but those things are seldom positive stories.

With nobody else posting, I decided to make it what I wanted to see on Lemmy, so while I do post adorable but deadly birds, I also try to teach about them so we care about saving them and to spotlight the people that care for them when they’re injured.

Sometimes I’ll post about environmental concerns if it’s more important than usual, but it’s mainly just to give everyone, including myself, something to look forward to seeing.

If you’re non-US, I try to they’re in owls from around the world a few times a week, and if you have any questions it there’s something you want to see, just let me know!
