  • Made the switch, yet its still easier for me to remote onto a windows machine to still use autodesk than learn any free alternatives ( freeCAD :l ), and a WiFi driver took me 2 days to find. However my workplace for some unbenownst reason has 11 Pro (instead of enterprise) on some of our machines, which Ill notice popups for office360 and kinda cringe at, hoping the customer never does

Do have to push prusaSlicer, I used Cura for so long but just experimenting found more satisfaction for the slic3r solver, especially for bridges and overhangs

  • Then why is it literally my job to work on machines that sole purpose is to find parts, yes aircraft fasteners even, that are not up to specification and reject them? If your metal is porous, it is weak. If your threads don’t make proper contact, they sheer, if the nut head is off perpendicular, it cracks. I could go on.

These parts are rejected because their particular variances make them unaccountable; they will not behave as modeled. If you think it is not hard, I would love to know your method for producing oh something like 300 fasteners a minute with that degree of precision. If our machines let even one bad part through, we’re rediscussing our contract. A 5% false reject rate is considered acceptable over having any bad part go good…

It is difficult, wouldn’t you say? Its a goddamn modern miracle, screws damnit

PS also we work in micrometers, if you actually knew how small nanometers are… well you wouldnt have said that, cheers to learning

  • I think the critical mass for contributions to useabilify is soon, but not quite yet. I was using mint for over a year, but recently changed to popOS. I was surprised that my sister actually wanted me to get rid of windows off her new Asus vivobook… if I had known how many hairs I will have pulled trying to get WiFi working… I probably wouldnt have, and I can only he thankful she didn’t get too bad an impression, she’s seeming to like it now. If I had let being a noob get in my way of trying however, I wouldnt be nearly as satisfied with my workflow and desktop, and its let me dive further into selfhosting than I feel I wouldve on windows. I cant stand to be a Linux evangelist, but also I would love for adoption to increase, as users and contributors make for a fuller experience, Valve getting on the deck and proton is what let me really switch, but it will have holes until developers also change

  • I love me some mental gymnastics just as much as everyone else, but for a minute lets agree for some reason Putin has a reason to be worried about “NATO expansionism”… didnt he e already have the upper hand circa 2014 and Crimea? Was he feeling just as threatened? Somehow even after mobilizing, Europe was still energy dependant, the US was about as friendly with Russia in a long time during the trump presidency, I’ve had the impression that much remained neutral before the full scale invasion aside from trade quarrels, nobody was talking about arming Ukraine in some sort of cold war era missile crisis. Which I would certainly hope the change from 3 day "special operation " into this fucking shitshow should tell you all you need: it is about the land. And if you’re wanting the former Soviet Union coming back to its glory through force, just say it.
