Profits aren’t spent on salaries. Salaries one of the things deducted from revenue to determine profits.

But they are doing that themselves already. I think they care because handling takedowns creates work for them and because they may be taking down search results that generate them ad revenue.
The thing is, some of the really bad cases still get modeling jobs, which says that someone thinks the bad cases actually look good.
Even some of the subtler cases look off to me, giving a certain distinctive artificial look. I don’t doubt that if you see it enough it starts to look natural, but to me that just makes it worse.
Isn’t Waze better, functionalitywise, than google maps? I dont think they are any better on ethical fronts, but still better to use the less powerful evil…
Fwiw there is low power heat tape you can buy to run along pipes to keep then from freezing. Had this on a pipe that ran through an attic and would freeze when the outside temp got extreme, despite heating the house.
Yes, it avoids the worst of stupid thumbnail patterns that the YouTube algorithm pressures people into. Yes, nobody is making an O face, and the title isn’t misleading. But this is still in a style shaped by those same pressures, and IS cringey to me. Titling something “I did such and such” and the visual style… does this not scream dumbed down for the algorithm to you? Five years ago you’d have wondered if this was targeted at children or something.
Listen, I understand why people who may have good quality content make compromises to reach more viewers. You might think i’m being excessively hard-ass about it, but in my opinion, playing ball with the algorithm just contributes to the problem. The fact that the style of this thumbnail has become so normalized that people can’t even see what I find objectionable, IMO, just demonstrates what a slippery slope this is.
I’m sorry I just can’t bring myself to watch a video whose thumbnail looks like that.
Well “it’s human nature” can indeed be a cop out. It shouldn’t be a discussion ender. And it shouldn’t be a justification. Murder is a part of human nature too. However it is a reality to be worked with. And one can ask, in what conditions is this behavior brought out, and in what conditions discouraged?
Oh I agree with you. I didn’t mean asking why was flawed, but specifically asking why with the implicit assumptions we tend to carry about human actions being rational and conscious. I agree that asking “why is this a part of human nature?” is a good question.
Asking why like this has the implicit flawed premise that human behaviors like this are products of conscious thought. They are not. (I don’t mean this as a criticism of you particularly, it is inherent in our culture to look at everything humans do as if it were rational and conscious, despite the reality that so much is it is not.)
I’d answer this by saying it is human nature. Most people don’t think about it and are not aware they are doing it. Many might even deny it. This is not to say individuals can’t stop and reflect and be conscious and rational about. Some do but most don’t.
I’ve only had non-convection toaster ovens and the one thing they did better than my air frier is toast. My air frier tends to dry out the toast by the time it’s properly browned. However I’ve never had a problem with it blowing food around.
Ditto! Why the fuck is this not just how sinks work?
Seriously, when you have a single small file which is that important, it’s really not hard to make sure it’s backed up in several places.
What does your convection toaster oven do that the air fryer doesn’t?
Your logic doesn’t make sense. Reducing the use of fossil fuels in other things leaves more for use of growing food.
specifically peppermint
The one possible downside is that you should try to be careful to close them slowly to avoid a water hammer effect.
Related tip: if your washer has rubber hoses running from the hookup to the washer, replace them with good quality metal ones. The rubber ones will eventually fail.
It depends what kind of valve they are. There is a kind that you don’t need to worry about that for. I don’t remember the terminology, I’m hoping someone who knows this stuff better will clarify my comment. The valves with the oval knobs tend to be the troublesome kind, the kind with a straight handle that only turns 90 degrees doesn’t need exercise and it’s unlikely to fail.
Does any of that explain the 404? An even 400ml is very close to 14 imperial ounces. 14.078. 404 makes it further off and a weird number in any units I’ve tried coverting it to.
