Blatantly false. Nowhere in the article does it say this.
This is simply not true. Low bit compressed audio is small amounts of bandwidth you would never notice on home internet. And recognizing wakewords? Tiny, tiny amounts of processing. Google’s design is for accuracy and control, a marketing team cares nothing about that. They’ll use an algorithm that just grabs everything.
Yes, this would be battery intensive on phones when not plugged in. But triggering on power, via CarPlay, or on smart speakers is trivial.
I’m still skeptical, but not because of this.
Edit: For creds: Developer specializing in algorithm creation and have previously rolled my own hardware and branch for MyCroft.
Glad I got to go when the panels were good.
Pfftttsshttt… Outside. Kids these days.
Good.
May = just outside her home being arrested with a knife ->
When authorities later searched the Jeep Glauner had driven, they found methamphetamine and two bundles of rope.
This article is crazy if you read it. If the quality of his requests felt real, especially from a non government email address, these things must cone in shitty all the time.
Thank you, they changed the org name. Updated.
It’s at least good that the victim is pleased with the judge’s response (per her quote in the article).
And if the goal is reform, as it should be, it’s a better choice than jail. Hopefully it works.
100% agree. Intuition is based on reasoning, it’s just fast because experience creates the “gut” feeling before your conscious is able to form the words. At least that’s what it feels like for me.
But there a tons of times I’m passionate about something and am proved wrong. Being open to that certainly helps ;)
The Lorax
TLDR:
“We absolutely see when you move a customer from that pure transactional model … whether it’s Instant Ink, plus adding on that paper, we sort of see a 20 percent uplift on the value of that customer because you’re locking that person, committing to a longer-term relationship.”
Instant Ink is a subscription in which ink or toner cartridges are dispatched when needed, with customers paying for plans that start at $0.99 and run to $25.99 per month.
And perhaps OP is the same.
NP, this article was also posted by a bot, so… You know.
That doesn’t answer my question, it avoids it. Passions come in many flavors, and are not all-consumimg. For some its music, and culminates on an instrument. For some it’s sports, and revolves around one. Do you have anything you are passionate about?
Not my intent. I’ll do this, but don’t have the time to fully maintain or distribute. Maybe I’ll organize releases for Obtainium, where FOSS elites will grab them, but I’m not in it to “promote”, just to “save”.
Hopefully someone with more motivation comes along and does what you are saying, though.
Out of curiosity, why do you feel this way? And what are you passionate about?
Not really, as with many others the headline is sensationalist. It’s missing the “… on login page attempts for sites that pay for and or use bot protection services.”
For posterity, but also for forks if the repos go down, I have created https://github.com/SimplerMobileTools and downloaded all the original repos, branches, and tags which will soon be uploaded there.
I have already got SM Gallery compiling, so thats a start, and will upload all the repos tomorrow when its not so late.
Note: Any former maintainer of SMT will be added on to SrMT upon request.
EDIT: All forks updated with notice of rationale and link to this discussion.
EDIT2: https://github.com/FossifyOrg is a soft fork created by one of the current maintainers. I will keep the hard fork up just in case.
Description is false. Windows won in R&C. This was not an across the board win for Linux. Good news doesn’t need to be sensationalized.
