  • The problem is we are very very sensitive to rotten food.

Water and soap will do very little to remove any of that if that’s bound itself to the plastic.

You could use a high pH solution to try to tear up any organics. An extended soak in week hydrogen peroxide or a soak in a light lye solution might get the job done.

Ozone, sunlight, retrobrite, barkeeper’s friend, vinegar they’re all trying to do the same thing destroy those organics left on the plastic. But in some cases that stuff just binds and there’s not that much you can do about it.

  • Not necessarily SpaceX but they needed something.

The problem with NASA is that the funding waxes and wains with the administrations, as does the demands of the administrations to give them the money.

If something takes more than 8 years to happen chances are the project never comes to fruition. NASA has really slowed down in development in recent decades.

Not all the innovation SpaceX is doing is really warranted, though most of it’s kind of cool. But they are investing in research and development in places that NASA simply can’t get to.

Starlink is just a way for spacex to capitalize on that research and development. They are their own sister company customer.

That said they can all turn into dog shit in a matter of months if somebody got a stick up their butt

Sadly, you’ll never be able to say anything nice about any Musk properties here without massive downvotes by people who wouldn’t purchase anything from Musk.

The hardware (occasional bad quality control aside) is pretty awesome. My neighbor has one, His holiday update was an absolute hoot. They’re fast, clean, comfortable and are generally long lasting, low maintenance cars.

When you factor in EV and Price, there’s nothing that stands out as nicer from a pure hardware standpoint.

They could use a few more buttons inside. When they become disabled on the road, their requirement for you to have them do the towing and taking hours to do so sucks. Suing people over selling their vehicles second hand is pretty bad. No second party repairs allowed is a problem.

The real 800 lb gorilla in the room is the autopilot. The only redeemable thing about the auto pilot is that it mostly works and it’s pushing the tech forward. They have enough money to lobby congress to make it legal, all those 730+ wrecks and *42+ deaths as horrible as they are, will lead us to the feature being viable eventually.
