  • I doubt it. The moka pot in general is finicky. Unless you put milk or something into the coffee I find it rather harsh and I don’t like milk in coffee.

This is 100 % a matter of technique, I can make a good cup of coffee with it. I just need to dial in grind and ratios right, but even then it’s hard to control the temperature. By the time I go to that sputering hissy phase it becomes harsh and very bitter.

In general it’s hard for me to find the sweet spot between battery acid and coal juice with a moka pot. Pourover is much more forgiving and consistent.

  • I’ve been running ubuntu and then pop_os for a couple of years now and honestly, I’m surprized how much stuff just works out of the box.
There are times when I need to tinker with the OS to make one thing or another work properly, but proton DB is quite a good resource for that. And I like it so it’s not a big deal if I need to spend an hour messing around with the configurations.

In my, rather short (5ish years profesionally), career I needed to rebase once. And it was due to some releasing fuck up, a branch had to be released earlier and hence needed to be rebased on another feature branch scheduled for release.

Otherwise, fetch » pull » merge, all day, every day.

All Russian negotiations rely on the agreement for Ukrane to give up a part of invaded lands. That is not going to happen, especially after Crimea in 2014. Russia has no claim to the lands and any negotiations that require them are a joke.

If Russia is not stopped no agreement will be final, it’s all about the ambition to rebuild the Soviet Union and “compromise” won’t do it.

Of course NATO will not directly engage in this war (as sad as it is), that would result in WWIII. It is convieniet for NATO nations that the conflict is in Ukrane, but that does not change the fact Ukrane needs and is getting support indirectly, because NATO has an interest in Ukrane winning.

Comparing that to China’s “priority” for infrastructure in the original post is at best unfair. And while arms racing in general is not a good thing, the original post lumps that together with support for Ukrane. That is the message I take issue with.

  • The outlined issues don’t seem to be lemmy exclusive, but then again, I’ve spent quite a short time here.

The toxicity is caused by the society, not by the platform. From my experience, one can always find a more toxic subreddit.

Reddit is just as much moderated by volunteers, that’s the reason I started using reddit. Also, having corporate admins doesn’t make the platform any more spam resistant.

If anything I would expect these problems to be more prevalent in smaller (lemmy) platforms and stabilize with growth to reddits level.

Now I’m not trying to defend lemmy, but being even more community driven I want it to succeed and become what reddit used to be.
