What happened to good parenting being a valid solution to a problem like that?

I mean they can’t exactly ignore the law, can they?
I’m not sure how newsworthy this whole topic is, but apparently it sets some people off, so it generates clicks if nothing else.
Not self-hosting email anymore, but back when I did all the hype was https://mailcow.email.
Music purchased from the iTunes Store is DRM free though. I think they actually upgraded purchases made prior to this change to DRM free versions (called iTunes Plus or something).
I’d never trade my VDSL 250 for anything TV cable based, at least where I live. It could be 10 Gbit/s and I wouldn’t care. Some neighbors have Vodafone cable and it’s probably the most unreliable internet service ever. Also, latency is higher. Of course depending where you live, ymmv.
Choosing an internet provider based on the advertised download speeds is like choosing a camera based on megapixels.
All that being said, copper is obviously crap no matter the tech, and I’m happy that Deutsche Glasfaser will most likely offer real FTTH in the coming years, which means we’ll get high-quality, fast connections.
No. Yes. Probably not for most use cases.
1 % lows are likely a driver thing (Nvidia calls it “Game Ready Drivers”), with Arch you’ll get new drivers (or kernel versions) much earlier, similar to Windows.
Changing mail providers isn’t easy when you use their domain endings as you’ll probably have to update a bunch of accounts to use a new mail address. For the future, use email providers that allow to use your own domain(s), switching providers is a lot easier then. You can export mails from Gmail with ease though, as long as they provide IMAP you can simply sync your complete mailbox and you could even upload all of it to your new email provider.
And Google Drive…simply transfer all your files to somewhere else and done.
How does Apple relate to this?
They want to sell their Premium subscription. They want you to compare 5 seconds of nothing versus “0” seconds of nothing. That being said, I think uBlock Origin with up-to-date filter lists completely eliminated this delay for me.
I’m assuming this meme wasn’t meant all too serious by the poster (but judging by the downvotes quite a few people took it seriously).
However, it’s not like Linux is magically immune to security vulnerabilities. It’d be foolish to think your system is invulnerable just because you’re using a Linux distribution.
I want to add that WhatsApp doesn’t send message content within notifications either.
I know WhatsApp isn’t very popular around here (for valid reasons), but it uses end-to-end encryption, notifications or not.

Larger towns and cities? Yes. For smaller towns though it’s a bit of a hit and miss. At least here in Germany.
The only two Google services I still use are YouTube and Google Maps.
I use Google Maps as a local guide of sorts, because restaurant information (and information on other places) is often better compared to Apple Maps and other services. I didn’t use it for navigation for years and the app is a bloated mess nowadays.
Good point, didn’t even realize this was from 2012.
Not sure, but maybe you can snapshot these subvolumes independently?
I like that Linus is so strict on not breaking user space because this obviously aids with compatibility and it’s probably a big part of why rolling releases work.
But I sure hope Linus’ eventual successor won’t be toxic and…cringe. It’s hard to take someone serious when he’s raging this much.
Windows 10 LTSC IoT + a certain mass grave script or whatever has got you covered until 2032.
They were HEVC iirc, but 5 GB for 1.5 hours will hurt the quality quite a lot.
