His tone, the way he mocks other creators, comes off as (for lack of a better term) developmentally stunted. I understand if you disagree with the product because your vision is different, but the way he expresses it is so reductive that it’s hard to see his points as valid beyond his feelings.
With that being said, It’s been awhile since I’ve seen David Jaffe and he’s kinda got a “We’ve got Dan Harmon at home” vibe about him now.
I’m pretty sure that this is because steam uses chromium as its backend and chromium new version doesn’t run on windows 7. It’s still not good because there are some games that won’t run on newer systems and therefore 7 is required for preservation.

I tried this specifically to get Alan Wake 2 to work (with the 3080ti) and it is a less than spectacular experience as most of the effects on the game (shadowy figures, screen distortions, Ray Tracing) do not work properly in comparison to running on windows.
In bazzite-nvidia’s defense, it does just “work” but only to the extent that the Nvidia driver works. This is still more of nvidias issue and less bazzite-nvidia. Regular Bazzite with a 5700xt worked very well.
I do keep seeing the argument that you can vote with your wallet but I mentioned this in another thread I think a week ago.
I think voting with your wallet doesn’t quite work here because you’re not going to a competitor, you’re simply opting out. What happens is then they don’t see your platform of choice as the issue. All secretly gathered data points like your platform of choice often present a survivorship bias in the usage data.
With that being said, piracy has always been “… An issue of service not price” (GabeN) and I wholly support piracy as the alternative. I just don’t think these services like Amazon are going to ever get the memo.
I do have a weird Tin Foil hat feeling that they’re losing something Linux platform that’s more than support or DRM. What if it’s harder to monitor your usage on Linux platforms and they think that they can encourage you to leave the platform by forcing you to see lower quality so they can get those usage metrics back? (Again, tinfoil hat hypothesis)

Hi!I see a lot of great suggestions here but I was just looking at your chart and I think just one fundamental change would benefit you.
Think of your switch as the “core” of your network. Everything should connect to that switch (computers, access points, firewall) for your best experience/performance.
If you go with unifi, you should know that their switches are managed but if you intend to self host anything, you’re actually going to want the managed features!

They need to stop rapidly changing the terms of the agreement. This is the problem endemic to the platform. It’s starting to lose shape because the ads are the problem.
If this was an issue with the quality of content:
ideally creators would get to choose their ad roll spots. This would make it less jarring to the watcher. It’s also terrible that you can get ads for something like BP on a video that’s basically surmised as “That time BP poisoned a lot of children”. (See climate town) l. Also, if the ad revenue split was better, creators wouldn’t then have to shoe horn in extra ad spots into the content of their videos.
However, I don’t think it’s a problem with quality of the content, but the quality of the ads.
I believe Adblocking is not piracy issue to the end user as much as it is protection measure from malicious content. It’s up to the user to qualify what is “malicious” or not in the end. Users who use adblock do not have a good relationship with online advertising not because it annoys them, it’s because it threatens them. This is less so just a YouTube problem and more of a entirety of Google’s business model problem.
Becoming a better ad platform is a tough challenge when advertisers by practice operate in a manipulative bad faith space. We don’t trust ads.
I think it’s worth checking out some diy alternatives that get the job done. I built my own “steam box” with some cheap Ali Express parts (Elsa 5700xt and Erying motherboard with core I9 equivalent engineering sample) to great success. The OS is key. I’ve found two that work very well:

I have thought about trying a minisforum with the built in 6600m but I haven’t given it a go yet.
I originally started using brave because at the time it was the most feature complete alternative to chrome. Now I would like to switch but I would still use chrome cast for music streaming (I have quite a few of them).
Last time I checked casting audio was missing as a feature in most deGooogled versions of chrome. Does anyone have any suggestions for browsers that allow me to stream audio from my browser to Google Chromecast?

Universal Blue has some really good ideas. I really think immutable and atomic updating linux distros are the future. Most applications have flatpaks available.
Bazzite has alot of gamer forward features, has Nvidia specific builds, and even supports a SteamDeck replacement version of their OCI images.
Even though people may not like Fedora, I think universal Blue solves a lot of the Fedora style problems people experience.
There are also BlendOS and VanillaOS but I haven’t tried them with NVIDIA GPUs.
Building a machine that does everything is coming to a household near you! The rest of us, well we’ve been building custom gaming machines for one or two games for a long time.
The tooling is just getting better everyday. I don’t think Windows gaming will ever die but I think the experience has gotten bad enough that people have begun seeking alternatives. If this wasn’t true I don’t think that the SteamDeck would be so successful.
With that being said, I don’t tell everyone to try Linux. I do think that Linux is good for gaming but just hard to use for most gamers. I’ll probably buy a steam deck OLED in March just to “do my part” even though I have far too many custom machines and not enough time to enjoy playing the games.
