  • I am guessing, and not an expert here. This may not be a definitive answer, it is just my thought process.

I guess its the first inversion of D major?

    D F# A - D Major

    F# A D - D Major, first inversion

Since F# to A is a minor third, that to me explains the F# minor. F# to D is a a raised 5th, aka augmented 5th, and I am pretty sure + is the symbol for augmented.

Ok after writing this out, I think I am correct, but please, anyone else, correct me if not.

Seems that the software is thinking of the first inversion of D major as F# minor with an augmented 5th. Weird but I guess not technically wrong.

  • I had an issue running Arch on a Surface Pro 3 a while back where Wifi would drop after some hours - I couldn’t ping or SSH in but the device itself could reach the internet.

I found a post mentioning Wifi power saving mode and disabled it, and it fixed the issue for me. I’ll look and see if I can’t find it, and update here if it looks relevant to you.

Also, I would definitely try with your laptop wired instead of wireless if you can.

  • This is what my Dad called it and you are the first person I’ve ever heard besides him do it.

I wonder if it’s regional, are you from NY/New England area?

Sometimes he would also call it “Frog in a Log” but that could have just been him being goofy.

The “official” name I’ve heard since then is Eggs in a Basket.

I agree with you. Purism had this same problem at one point I believe - turns out that the Wordpress plugins that they used for their site came bundled with Google crap.

It’s possible this wasn’t an intentional choice by anyone at S76, but instead just spyware bundled with other components.

Both businesses should know to evaluate their dependencies for these sorts of things, but mistakes do happen. It’s good that concerned community members exist to call them out, even if they have no plans to change it.
