This is the best way to explain it I’ve seen. Tell me those billionaires are struggling 🙄

I’m not gonna lie, this had never occurred to me. But now that it has, it is 100% gonna be my hobby of the future
Uptoots for snoot boops
I think there’s an addictive cycle element to it too. A point where it isn’t just validating the decisions you’ve made, but a compulsion to see the number get bigger
This seems to be the mistake I made - thank you for clarifying :)
Forgive me if I’m mistaken but did Signal adopt RCS? I they abandoned SMS for RC- if I recall - couldn’t SMS my friends on it anymore and abandoned ship lol
Edit: wait, I don’t think signal is open source
I thought black and what television was black and white because history happened in black and white. I suppose that means life in colour happened after the invention of colour tv
This was much longer and much funnier than anticipated
I’m always stunned by the numbers that ppl sell out for. I always think it’s hundreds of thousands or millions, but its often like 60k… It’s nuts.
But then, the CCP is very happy to bully their citizens. Until recenlty in Canada, they were having the Chinese police service muscle ppl under the guise of “diplomatic offices” for “drivers license renewals and other domestic Chinese matters.”
I actually love the irony of this meme, as that’s exactly what happened haha
I wouldn’t read too hard into it, he’s just trolling this comment thread based on his profile 🙄
Double standards for yay! Smart business doesn’t preclude moral/ethical cesspools
`I mean, yes, agreed. But this is literally how businesses operate - stay ahead of governments, or change the game so govts are onboard (as regulation regularly trails behind business). A genuinely smart business move would obviously be preferable, but the modern history of megacorps is not exactly a shining beacon of benevolence to the ppl. It should be, but gestures wildly at everything
Edit: exchanged “always” for “regularly”
Fingers crossed that you’re right. Definitely don’t want to see them repositioning into an (even more) advantageous policy position. I imagine that a standards body such as the one you mentioned would be fairly careful about adopting anything proposed by a company without significant caution. At least that’s how it works with some international standards agencies haha
I have limited understanding of the technical side of this issue, but based on this comment, this sounds like a brilliant move by Google - Don’t like the rules of the game, change the game…
Edit: for clarification, this comment was very tongue in cheek - I don’t support Google, this was just an acknowledgement of a smart business play.
I’m glad to hear it :) it really is. What’s the fun in being hyper adulty if it only gets you slightly “ahead” of everyone else over an entire lifetime? Maybe the biggest hoodwink is the one we do to ourselves when we (maybe unintentionally) start focusing on the rat race instead of the little things that make life fun - and generally don’t cost much haha
This thread is a great commentary on grind culture. I feel every word of this. As I understand it, it’s in part the mindless pursuit of “success”, and the suffering caused by losing a feeling of safety in the world
At the end of the day, life isn’t meant to be effective, it’s meant to be enjoyed as much as reasonably possible. I’m also on a journey of getting back to my inner child. Only piece of advice I can offer: if it seems a little silly as an adult, you should probably do it.Today as I left the gym, I one-foot-hopped through some hula hoops laid on the ground for the next class. I realised after it probably looked silly, but it also made my heart smile, so: worth it
“The shortest distance between two points is a straight line”
“Yeah, but that’s too expensive, I like mine better. What’s wrong with it?”
gestures wildly at photo THE WHOLE THING
Ah shoot, just logged into Wefwef and see it doesn’t have it! I’m using Jerboa and it does have save functions if that’s an option for you :)
Yeah I don’t understand why they don’t just own it. You’re a company trying to maximize profits, and tried money grubbing your way to more. Then you got caught and your customers didn’t like it. Admit it, move on to your next appallingly bad idea. Weak lies are the worst
