I don’t want to contradict your experience, because I have been in a very similar state of mind in the past and some time ago I would probably have written a similar comment. But I want to tell you about my own experience with social anxiety and being trans. There has been a somewhat strange development of my mental state which you may find informative.
Since I decided to transition, my social anxiety has diminished. No, it’s not gone, but it is less powerful than before. I attribute this to a strange paradox: When presenting male, I was fixated on doing “man” right. I was under constant stress of being exposed as a “fake man” who wasn’t manly enough and I always - consciously and subconsciously - tried to be more male.
I thought that this would also be the case when transitioning to female. That I would constantly have to worry about “doing female” right. But I don’t.
I was convinced that presenting as this or that gender was a constant dance on a tightrope. But after a while I realised that it isn’t anymore, because I am just being myself. It’s one less thing my mind worries about. And a big one at that.
As I said: My social anxiety is still there and I am only making baby steps towards presenting more female, because - yeah - I am also very worried about the social and political climate in the place I live in. And I certainly can’t say that your mind works similarly, but gender dysphoria warps one’s brain in very insidious ways and sometimes the outcome is a paradoxical state of mind.
Others have already written a lot about their experience and therefore I will keep it short. One thing that made a big difference for me was that feelings like the ones that you are describing are certainly normal - to an extent. But when all of them come together, then there is “something there”. No smoke without a fire, so to speak.
There is a little game “What’s your gender?” that helped me. It’s short. If you have a little time, I recommend checking it out.
Wherever you may go, may Blahaj be with you!
The reason is bards, isn’t it?
That’s Mattel. And one of the reasons why Hasbro looks so bad in comparison.
To add what has already been mentioned: She-Ra and Steven Universe.
And here the Norwegian version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO3ZDhwhtFA
For some people it is, for some people it isn’t. You do you.
A “Build a house for your friends” game: Take the construction and resource gathering from a game such as (for example) Valheim and combine it with an Animal Crossing - Happy Home Paradise style gameplay that tasks the player to design houses for various characters.
This comment is definitely not inspired by spending countless hours building houses in Valheim for purely aesthetic reasons. /s
Wearing thigh-high socks!?
That trans people are often attracted to things which subtly affirm their gender, even when they may not be fully aware of it.
I think it’s one of those small gender-affirming things that one can do.
Compression socks are an “old people thing” (not necessarily*, but the association is there). So older trans people can easily buy themselves colorful, thigh-high compression socks and don’t even need to explain why.
*Actually compression jobs are great for people working desk jobs, because they prevent legs/feet from swelling during long hours.
Damn autocorrect!
doesn’t have autocorrect
The main reason why I chose an AI generated image, rather than a real one, was because most of those depicting an assortment of different eggs were stock images. I am very reluctant to post stuff like that on Lemmy, considering that the stock image companies can be horribly litigious.
nods sagely There are definitely scalies among trans folks too.
There is a neat little game called “What’s your gender?” which can be played in the browser. It is rather casual way to explore trans and adjacent topics. It takes only some 15-20 minutes to play.
Maryland authorities are looking for a man, aged 53, goes by the name of “Todd” who went missing this afternoon.
She’s relatively careful with her own words and rarely does more than dog whistle.
Not anymore. She is very much mask off nowadays.
Depends, really. Producers do decide who will work on a movie in the first place. Producers’s biggest influence is during pre- and post-production. It’s true that producers stay out of the way during the actual production phase, but producers often take back control during the final cut (unless directors get the explicit right to do it that themselves) and other steps in post-production.
I find the thought of facing Kai Winn while being high utterly terrifying. Talking about a bad trip…
