  • I wasn’t very clear. The more you educate someone, the easier it is for them to formulate a reasonable opinion. The more they understand the techniques that can be used to manipulate them, the more they can counter such techniques. However, I could write a news story about how a star guided three magi to Jerusalem approx 2000 years ago where baby Jesus was born by a virgin and schools can’t say that is fake news… hell they’ll be singing carols about it in school choir. And the Democrats will be using tax dollars to pay for people to lead them in prayer about it in Congress, and our currency will claim that we all believe in this holy divine spirit. To kids, a lie is a lie. Are you going to feed them the American Dream, and whitewash American History too before you teach them to recognize fake news?

  • This is one of the reasons I still use Chromium primarily. Firefox fanatics are just too much like cult members. You can point out real issues to them, like that Firefox was slow to implement hardware-accelerated video decoding on Linux, or that Firefox also enables a bunch of telemetry by default… but half of their identity is based on using Firefox, so they take it personally. I’d love to have a technical discussion with some of these Firefox cultists, but to be honest most of them will just resort to ad-hominem attacks because that is the only argument they have.

  • They honestly can’t help themselves. Most news media in the US is nothing more than a PR firm. You got fired from a billion-dollar corporation for trying to unionize? Fuck it, not news worthy. You made a little less as a landlord because renters struggled during COVID… fuck yeah, now that is news worthy. Poor landlords, poor corporations, Powerball, yada yada.

When are people going to be so fucking gullible? Are they actually trying to inform you on facts, or are they trying to lure you in based on fear and bullshit to push their narratives and revenue-partners?

  • No people understand just fine. It is the Democrats that don’t care that Biden isn’t polling well against Trump. If the only way you can get votes is by scaring everyone into a doomsday scenario on what will happen if they don’t vote for your corporate candidate, then it is time you picked a better candidate. The DNC seems to always push the candidate that will do the least but than possibly win by a slim margin, or sometimes not win at all… to be honest I don’t think they care as long as it isn’t a candidate that will use tax dollars to help the American people. Trump is way worse than Biden, but when you have to pick between a sociopath and a puppet time and time again… at some point people are just going to say fuck it, you reap what you sow.

  • If an attack is emanate from a group of terrorists and you are certain to save countless lives, but one or two innocent people are collateral damage, then I think we can understand that it isn’t black and white. Heck, in those scenarios not only do those innocent people die, but you then pay a few million to their families for their losses.

When you instead are leveling a city, blowing up ambulances and hospitals and you literally have one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world on your side, and you’re killing close to over tens of thousands of innocent people to save a hundred or even two hundred, then it is black and white.
