That’s a good point, do you know how one might phrase or introduce it? I feel like just using the word ‘economy’ makes people think of something nebulous (it’s the invisible hand of the free market, don’t ya know? how does it work? in mYsTeRiOuS wAyS) and the vocabulary I’d use to try to explain or express what the productive forces are also kinda seems out of place.

Really though, with how consistent it has been with providing them with poop, I’m not surprised they go to it for their poopy-takes.

Yeah, I like it quite a bit. I wanted to have 3D models of stuff I designed what could be interacted with and I think the capability to integrate existing libraries is there but it’s beyond my skill atm.

The blogging part is neat, I’m a big fan and the nature integration with R Shiny and R Shiny for Python is great.

Perhaps propaganda is effective enough where folks will censure of their ‘own’ accord without explicit instruction. I think it’s plausible since it’s in their material interests to act as such anyways.

Something like that would have required some other kind of change of power from the Tokugawa Shogunate right? Instead of the Meiji Restoration happening and the Emperor being reinstated, if there was say a republic which became the basis of the reformation of the country, maybe that would have worked?

I had someone say this to me in real life. I explained UBI was a libertarian thing, Milton Friedman had a flavour of it (think it was Negative Income Tax) and how if implemented in say the US or UK it would work to absolve the state of any further responsibility and the other sorts of obvious problems it entails. They had never considered that it might not be a good solution I think because only people right of them would argue against them. I quickly changed the topic but they were a bit off for the rest of our time together (not too long, like 15 mins).

I’ve been learning a bit about Islam and their legal stuff. It’s so extensive, there’s so much there and I can’t believe this wasn’t something I learned. Like you hear that algebra and algorithm get their names from Arab folks (or at least from stuff that happened during the Islamic Golden Age), and I never heard anything about their complex legal tradition. I love bureaucracy, when I read US military documents or read about Stalin’s bureaucracy, I get excited at the litany of documentation and writing I can ponder through looking for something specific.

I now hope to go to an Islamic country (Iran, Iraq, Jordan, etc.) and have the opportunity to check out their libraries and learning centres.

I like some podcasts. I think for audio form, minute-for-minute, it’s hard to beat audiobooks. I have a ton of them I found by accident at a huge discount (🏴‍☠️🌊) and having works whose value I can be sorta sure of is great.
